Cue Metallica. Enter Gods Among Us.
The premise is simple enough - a matched battle game featuring a slew of DC's most enjoyable characters. You get these sorts of games for only a few reasons: the characters, the combat and the story (even though the story might be shorted in some of these sorts of games).
So first, the characters. There is a great range of characters from the Top Three (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) as well as some second-ring Justice Members. Just like in the New 52 comics, Aquaman is still my favourite. His top attack is awesome to say the least. The only negative in my own opinion is that Swamp Thing does not make an appearance (so far....)
Next, the combat. Unfortunately, the combat system for these games are sort of... the exact same. There's nothing new here except for the top and secondary attack visuals. You're pretty much buying this game so you can prove that Batman can beat everyone.
Finally the story - at first glance, there's nothing special and in fact I was wondering how Cyborg could even stand in a fight against any of the Top Three. But they have a contrivance to rectify the continuity and place everyone on a even keel. More or less.... The story guides you along a linear plot, but you get to play a goodly number of characters ranging from Batman, Captain Marvel, and even the Joker. The story makes sense and can be quite funny. It's a tonne of fun to play, but not much for replay as I can muster so far, unless you want to beat story mode in every difficulty level, and I have not done so.
Now, that is just the normal game mode. There is also a Battle mode wherein you pick your character and progress against 10 randomly selected characters. Beat them and get a character's unique end story. >>> In addition, there are myriad Battle options to overcome such as timers, buffs/debuffs, and even a few impossible like beating X characters in way too short a span or the opponent will be healed, or maybe both characters heal when they strike each other. It's a mess; a whole lot of a goodly mess. <<<
There's a tonne of extras including a digital copy of the Justice League: Doom Animated film (which is great if you haven't bought it yet as it is one of the better ones released). Lots of special features... an oh, my. A very nice detailed character sculpt showing Wonder Woman fighting against Batman; at over 1 foot in height, it now resides with my other character figurines and collector knick-knacks. A word about the comic... it's rather than and low on page counts. I have not followed the digital comics online, but I reckon doing so will make the enclosed comic stand out a bit more.
Finally, the brass tacks. Being a pretty hard-core DC fanboy, buying the Collector's Edition was a no brainer. With the game itself costing $50, the sculpt, digital download, and comic make it worthwhile (esp. the sculpt). There's a lot of good on here for single player, let alone playing against a friend either face to face or across the internet.
But I still say they should have included Swamp Thing....Love it By Big Kap
My pros with this are that the game arrived early on Tuesday so I had the whole day to play it.
Cons: I had to attach two pieces of the bust together and also the comic book didn't come in it's own case. I've been reading the digital version of the comic since it came out. So I just wanted this comic for my own collection. Even though the comic did come in a case, the case was attached to the box itself. And then as someone said you have to cut tape around the box to get into it. I personally felt with this being a collector's edition I wouldn't have to.

When the playstation network went down 2 years ago for 3 weeks Mortal Kombat 9 had just been released, as well as Portal 2. I quickly buzzed through Portal 2 and got my pleasure out of it, but Mortal Kombat 9 kept me occupied the rest of the time - without online functionality.
The package was great! You had the huge crypt to unlock stuff, the challenge tower, a decent story mode, and of course local multiplayer! I probalby put a solid 30 hours into that game before the network came back on.
That's exactly what I hoped from Injustice, and I feel it's what I got. The story mode is good and actually very interesting for comic book fans. If you read the associated comic you'll definetely get the most out of it and appreciate it.
The star labs missions are just like the challenge tower. They're fun, diverse and rewarding.
Of course vs mode and the online functionality runs great, with more costumes and opportunities to add to your game if you have an iphone or ipad to play the injustice game on there.
The fighting is decent. When you first play you'll play as batman. The tutorial makes you do it, but it's also the first character most people will try. He plays 'funny' and may turn you off a bit. Keep playing, everyone controls very differently and every character can be excellent when you figure out how to use them.
I went to a midnight release tournament and I was told - Flash is cheap, Sinestro is slow and unplayable. Pretty soon after you saw people using Flash losing to people who had never played a fighting game before (brought along for the event) and you saw people with Sinestro beating everyone. I honestly feel the game is pretty well balanced in the end. Especially since every level has environmental factors that everyone can use pretty evenly (with differences in how they're utilized) plus ways of getting health back and breaking combos by waging part of your power meter.
My problem with this actually stems from 2 of the things above - the comic and the iphone/ipad game, and.... well, the Archive. I figured I would be able to unlock everything in the archive, like I could in the Krypt. Possibly extra story panels or information about what happened leading up to the story in more detail. And of course I assumed I could unlock all the costumes and possibly even more special attacks! (like Fatalities in MK9).
Not so much. While there is a good amount to unlock, it isn't enough. And it isn't enough not because it isn't numarically as high as MK9, but because there is so much more that you can only unlock in 1 or 2 specific ways - namely the iPhone/iPad game and preorder bonuses. You basically can never have everything in the game unless you own an ipad/iphone and you preordered from 3 seperate locations. I don't like that. The preorder bonuses may become pay for DLC eventually, but then it's just extra money. Possibly the iPad/iPhone bonuses will never be available to those without the products, and unfortunately those costumes and add-ons are very appealing (Batman Beyond costume for example!).
The comic is really good. It's just extra money. It really does help expand the story, which is unfortunate really, because I want the product to feel self contained. Also the fact that this version comes with a comic isn't a great value since the included comic is free everywhere digitally. If it came with a small graphic novel of the first 6 comics, for example, that would better illustrate the story and add value.
The statue is top notch! it' sturdy, tall, and everyone who visits will gawk at it for sure.
And that's it. A 5 star game for sure, and if you have an i-product definitely get the game there and start working on getting those extra costumes. You'll have fun and it's worth the money as a package, my only complaint is that it could be a more complete package by itself without expecting the players to own a specific brand of 'other' products. Maybe the game will get an android and windows phone release?
