Customer Reviews:
Fun game but can be difficult! By Jackson
All right, well, I was hesitant about buying this game because I'm well over the age of little league, and I was afraid that the game might be too easy. That is definitely not the case. There's only two difficulty settings: Easy and Normal.
Easy is too easy.
And normal is frustrating to the max!
It takes a while to get used to the game and actually score some points for the win column, but once you start getting the hang of it, you start winning here and there. It's definitely not a good game for those who struggle with losing. Haha.
The graphics are neat. Different but cool.
There's a weird mixture to the game with realistic and unrealistic things, and in an odd way, it really makes the game complete.
But if you're looking for a game that requires you to get used to it and play for awhile before you become good at it, this game is definitely for you. When you actually win the World Series (which I haven't gotten quite there yet...), I'd imagine it's a great feeling.A tough baseball game that requires patience By The Angry American
I'm a sucker for a baseball video game, and "Little League World Series 2010" is a baseball game I recently discovered. This game is one that takes some getting used to. Even for an old guy like me, who has played so many baseball games since the days of the old M Network Baseball game for the Atari 2600, this is one game that really requires some patience to learn.
The premise of this game, of course, is that you're a Little League team gunning to make it from your local league all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The games are just six innings long, which is a good length for a baseball game, and the mercy rule is enforced just as it is in real life. What is most challenging in this game is the batting. The right trigger is used to swing. The player can either snap swing - that is, simply pull back and release quickly to hit the ball - or hold down the right trigger and build up power before swinging. To build up power, though, you have to time it so that you have optimum power when the pitch arrives, which means being able to read the pitcher and the pitch. The mechanics for pitching are more straightforward, though, following the tried-and-true control scheme of selecting a pitch before firing it with the right trigger, with a meter to help set power.
The game also has some mini-games to play, including a home run derby, a precision hitting challenge, and pitching bowling. While the home run derby and the precision hitting challenges are straightforward and fun to play, the pitching challenges are a bit more difficult. I could not aim properly to really do the pitching bowling, the pitching darts, or the Dunk Dugout mini-game - Dugout being the Little League mascot that you're trying to douse in a tank of water.
The game also has extensive stats tracking - not just hits, homers, and RBI, but also slugging percentage and OPS. And it has two different announcers calling the games - veteran baseball play-by-play men Brent Musberger and Gary Thorne, both of whom have called many Little League World Series games over the years. They could have actually dispensed of Musberger, though, because Thorne does a great job and is more fun to listen to.
For $15, this is not a bad game to have in the collection. Just know that you will sometimes scratch your head with the learning curve. But once past that, you'll have some fun with it.Great game By Anna E Eddy
Bought this for my son. He was searching everywhere and couldn't find it. It was a great deal and he STILL plays it, which is remarkable for him!
