An MK fans dream come true, and players that like fighters will have alot to enjoy in this game. Xbox Live is a blast. Excellent graphics, (Xbox edges out the PS3) sound is great. Gameplay the best in years with bone breaking XRAY moves. Netherealm studios payed a lot of lip service to the fans on this one. With games being around sixty dollars nowadays, I try to think of a justification for such a high price tag, especially when its a fighting game. While I have enjoyed past Mortal Kombat titles, wether it be the old games (MK1-UMK3) or The New (Deadly Alliance-MKvsDC), I can't seem more surprised at how much attention to detail this game has to justify the Kollector's Edition price of $98.99.
I pre-ordered this title four months in advance from Amazon, the delivery process was faster than expected, I received my pre-order bonus (classic Reptile) the day before the game was released and they upheld their release day delivery policy as promised. The art book within the packaging is kinda small but adequate, the book ends are highly detailed and I recommend it for any (MK) collector. This edition also came with three codes to redeem on Xbox Live, classic Ermac, online access code and avatar clothing codes consisting of a Scorpion costume and Neatherealm t-shirt for both male/female (they give you codes for both genders).
As far as the game goes, online play which is fun, is not the only thing to look forward to in this game. From the mini games to the story mode to the challenge tower, i just have so much I can do but find it hard to let go of just one thing before trying the next. The controls are good, took me less than thirty minutes with previous MK experience to get used to the punching, kicking and super moves. As for the Xbox controller, I use the analog stick always as the d-pad is just plain horrible for the 360.
With most fighting games not bringing in any "bang for your buck", I highly recommend getting this game. If you are an MK fan, get the Kollector's edition! It is worth the $98.99 price tag..... or even more!3 of 3 Exactly as expected! By Amod S. Athavale
Wow! That's all I have to say about it. This was my first collector's edition ever. I must admit I did contemplate while purchasing it because it was double the price of the basic game. But trust me, if you have been an MK fan over the years (which I am sure most of you reading this review are), it's totally worth it! On top of that, the game is just astounding! Just get it.
